Altered Wooden Heart Plaque

Hello Lovely People!!!! Today I'm showing you this beautiful altered wooden heart plaque!

First I gave it a light sanding.

Then a nice coat of white Gesso

Once the gesso is good and dry I added Texture Paste White Crackle through a Crafters Workshop Stencil (Harlequin)

Here I'm just figuring out my composition.

I chose some chipboard from scrapiniec  and resin from some of my silicone molds.

These are the nuance powders I used  and a home made yellow spray.

I sprayed yellow and used a water bottle to tone the color down dabbing with a baby wipe, I then sprinkled on my nuance powders in Nutmeg and Blue Lagune.

Using the same technique, Spraying with water and dabbing off some. You can really see the colors seep down into the crackle paste. Love this effect!

Close up of that crackle!

Using gel medium I attached all my embellishments.

So here is where It went down hill! I LOVE finnabairs waxes! So I decided to highlight the resin with them, but then I did the edge of the heart to. I just didnt like this look at all! I was wanting light and airy. So I went back over that with white Gesso. easy peasy fix!

taking acrylic paint, just the cheap stuff! I watered it down and splashed yellow blue and gold.I then printed out my sentiment covered it with matte gel medium edged it with the same gold wax and fastened that on for the finished look!

I get most of my art supplies From a great shop with a fabulous owner! I'm adding links below for items I used If you want to try out any of these techniques yourself! thanks so much for stopping by

Mixed Media Dragonfly Canvas!

Happy Tuesday everyone! I got some more studio time last night after dinner, I bought the Tim Holtz bigs dragonfly die a while back and decided to compose something with that.

I started out with a 10x10 canvas,I stenciled Modeling paste through three different stencils. Crafters Workshop Mini Art Is stencil,Crafters Workshop Mini Time Travel stencil and one of Dyan Reavely's Arrows stencils.

Black lace tulle! So pretty huh?

Now grabbing all my embellishments I gave them a layer of black gesso

Here you see I covered my fully dry canvas with black gesso. Using that pretty black lace tulle and some gel medium I secured it down. I also ripped cardboard and did the same thing with that. Now we have a nice base to work on!

with more gel medium I'm adding all my embellishments

Here is the center piece! My dragonfly! I used my sizzix to cut it out and used a wooden arrow from my stash, using some jute twine I rapped the arrow till I was satisfied and glued it down on top of the dragonfly to appear as the body.

I decided on Lindy's Stamp gang sprays, Shabby Turbine Teal, Rusty Lantern Lime, and Steampunk Sepia. I was going for a dark grungy look and knew these would be perfect on the black gesso!

This is with just the Steampunk Sepia spray, Can you see the subtle shine?

After adding the other two colors
Here is the wax I use to give it some highlights. Finnabair Art Alchemy Metallique wax in Vintage Gold, Made by Prima.
I took the wax spread some on my hand and used it as my pallet, adding it to just the very top of the embellishments. I also watered down some white gesso and splattered it in the center of the canvas.
Annnd I'm calling it DONE!

Have An Awesome rest of the day and thank you for stopping by!

Altered Dress Form

Hi! Hello! Happy Monday!! Today I'm sharing with you My altered dress form! Quite large, Coming in at over 18 inches tall! Lets just jump right to it!
Here is the dress form in its plain `ol Glory
Next I started added layers Of Finnabairs Patina Effect Paste with a sponge dabber To just the top half of the dress form.

At this point I set her aside and started on the wings,I grabbed an old box and cut it into the shape I wanted.I could have cut it as one whole piece but my box wasn't big enough.I then used some large brads and fastened them together and stuck some E600 in between for good measure.
Next I used and old Hymnal Book and cut out Feathers with a spellbinders feather die,any old book would do just fine though.
Using Mod Podge I Glued them suckers on the front and back
After using my heating tool to speed up the drying I covered the whole thing with Clear Gesso
and Gel Stain made by ArtC. But the options here are endless!
I then spritzed it with Lindy's Stamp Gang Spray (Steampunk Sepia)
This next step is for her top, I used paper from Tim Holtz 12x12 Dapper paper collection.Aren't these ruler papers just perfect? I glued them down on some thick chipboard using some tombow glue, after cutting them to my desired length I used a sanding block and ruffed up the edges
Taking old lace ribbon, that's actually new lace ribbon from my local dollar tree and tied some brown and black lace tulle onto it for a grungy looking tutu.
Cutting a whole in her stomack I used thick twine and sewed in a couple stitches for her wings. I made a big enough flap to get my hand in there to pull the twine through. I also added some heavy body gel in between her back and the wings to make sure they were nice and sturdy. I added yellow brads to the wholes to give it a more intentional look.
ANNNNNDDDD this is where I forgot to take pictures But I can still walk ya through
I lined up my measuring tape/rulers and glued them in place with heavy body gel cut a thin piece of tulle and rapped it around her waist. I wanted something there to hold the Measuring tape/rulers in place until the glue dried all the way. I decided to keep it after a wile of debating.I tied her tutu around her waist and she was ready for embellishments!
Using heavy body gel I added some cogs and gears, some of finnabairs clock parts,Flowers and butterflies
right here is her lovely cleavage! using heavy gel again I spred it out all along where her top meets her chest area and sprinkled seed beads, glitter, mica flakes and sequins (basicaly anything shiny that was setting on my desk)
And the last thing was added this Faux lightbulb, I just cut a whole slapped some heavybody gell and pushed it in there!! Thats It!

I hope you all enjoyed my little tutorial and first blog post!
